Dear Scouting Families, on behalf of Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council and the Camp Hi-Sierra staff, we welcome your unit to what promises to be an outstanding summer camping experience. Camp Hi-Sierra offers one of the finest camping programs in the nation, and our dedicated staff works tirelessly to ensure every Scout has a week they will never forget.
Camp Hi-Sierra sits at 5,000 feet elevation within the beautiful Stanislaus National Forest in California's Sierra Nevada mountains. The North Fork of the Tuolumne River flows through camp, creating a stunning natural setting for Scouting adventures.
The land was originally home to the Miwok people and was later part of a ranch owned by Edward Jenness, who made his fortune during the Gold Rush hauling lumber to the mines at Columbia. The Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council (then the Stanford Area Council) purchased the property in 1946 for $10, and Camp Hi-Sierra held its first camp season in 1949. For over 75 years, this legendary camp has been shaping young Scouts into leaders.
Be Part of the Legend at Camp Hi-Sierra! Brave our 50' climbing tower, forge hot metal at Foxfire, fire some arrows or black powder on our ranges, throw some clay on our wheels, swim or paddle in our lake, mountain bike in our forest, sail at Pinecrest Lake, or advance along the Scouting journey on your trail to Eagle. With our experienced and talented staff and the variety of programs available, you are bound to discover exciting adventures at the legendary Camp Hi-Sierra.
