Welcome to the BearPaw Winter Camping Training resource library. This comprehensive training program has been developed by the SVMBC High Adventure Training Team, originally founded in 1986 as "Hi-Sierra Deep Freeze" by Raimo Vahamaki.

"In wilderness, it is far easier to stay warm to begin with than to try to get yourself warm again after becoming cold."

Snow camping can be incredibly fun when you're prepared with proper knowledge of gear, clothing, shelters, cooking, navigation, and safety. The BearPaw program teaches Scouts and leaders everything they need for a safe and enjoyable winter camping experience.
